Error decompressing data! Corrupted Installer?

Hi everyone,

Since I bought a new computer last week I´ve already spent four whol
nights googling and reading forums trying to fix this problem with m
Vista. Even though I found many complains about this problem in othe
forums, I couldn´t find any sollution.

Nearly all software installation tools gave me some problem (al
similar, but the results depend on the installation tool - instal
shield, windows installation tool...). The message I´ve got was alway
"*Error decompressing data! Corrupted installer?*" or "*Error 0x800400
- unspecified error*".

I could install some programs with the help of winrar - firs
decompressing the installer and executing the setup manually, so i
doesn´t seems to be a problem of corrupted files. And sometimes if I tr
real hard (about 40 times), the installer works.

I´ve already done a disk verification and memory verification to see i
wasn´t a memory error or something like that, but nothing showed up.

Yesterday I´ve downloaded windows installer 4.5 beta, and I coul
install some softwares without having any problem. But I´m still no
sure if it was luck or if the windows installer is now Ok. Bu
Installshield still doesn´t works.

Configuration:
Mainboard: MSI P6NGM2-L, NVIDIA® MCP73V (GeForce 7050 + nForce 610i
Chipset
RAM: 4Gb
HD: 500Gb SATA II
Processor: Intel quad core Q8200
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 with all updates

I hope someone can give me some light, I´m really thinking about goin
back to old and "good" XP...

Sorry, I see that you have already tried that.

Better suggestion, take it back and demand a new one...
