Heyy
When im downloading large files from a website...they dont download
completly...
Sometimes when i have 40 % or for that matter any other number....of a
file....then it just says that the file is downloaded completly...but the
file is only 40 % finished....
This have happen for me and 5 friends...after aprils win updates....
Before these updates everything vas downloading fine from that
website...(it´s my own website)
Are there others that has encountered this problem.....and what can we do
about it..
Can it be a problem with IE...and what are the KB numbers of the file that
update IE in aprils updates...

Kaos,

See if anything in this MSKB article sheds some light on the issue :
Description of how the Attachment Manager works in Windows XP Service Pack 2
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/883260

A list of the updates issued in April can be viewed here :

The size of the file has everything to do with the reason you can not
complete the download. Netscape 7.2 also has it's own built in downlaod
manager and it works well, until of course, you decide to downlad a file
that will take 10 hours to complete at 56K per second. It probably will be
necessary to purchase a download manager that has the following capacities,
unlike the basic download manager that is included in the browsers:
1. The ability to resume a download if the internet connection is lost.
2. The ability to resume a download that is interrupted due to a drop in the
on line connection from the server or the originating website the file is on.
3. The ability to let you go for several days without finnishing the
download, for instance you go out of town on business for several days and
you have your computer turned off and completely disonnected.

The average price for such download managers are from 29.00 each for a
single user licence and up to 69.00.

many download managers have the ability to accellerate your download.

I for instance downlaoded a 3.13 Gb file from Microsoft using their special
download manager at the website and the average speed was 4Kb per sec and
that download took over 16 consecutive days using a basic 56K modem.

I haven't checked but I imagine that sooner or later one of the popular
browsers may eventually provide us with a free download manager with the
capabilities mentioned above, but until then, shop around for the best
bargain.
Sometimes you can download a 30 day trial version of a download manager and
use it to your heart's content, but I am looking for one that is totally
free.

So far I have not found one.
