Error file Office 2007 association (docx)

Windows Vista Home Premium SP1
Microsoft Office 2007 SP1

I experienced issues with associating winword.exe with .docx documents when
I installed Office 2007 recently. I had been using a previous version of
Office (2000P)
Opening .docx file is only possible form Word > open file, however a double
click on a docx file would have display a lot of non-sense as the docx
files decided to associate themself with NotePad and it is impossible to
associate them with winword.exe in any traditional known way.
I had no issues with other Office applications. No problem to open with
double click on a dotx file
Thanks for any help.

Did you by any chance use an Upgrade version of Office 2007 (which version) when you
installed it ???

Go to Default Programs, and set the .docx extension to be opened with Word
2007

Start - Default Programs - Associate a file type or protocol with a program
(wait a while)
highlight .docx and click on "Change program..."
browse if you have to, and select Winword.exe

Thanks Tyro.
It is exactly what I have already made. It does not work. Vista does not
accept the association of a file docx with winword.exe

I have runned the Microsoft Office Diagnostics and all seems OK but it is
still impossible to associate files Docx with winword.exe
In the Windows Open with (Apri con) , if I clic on Browse (Sfoglia) in the
next window I can select the file:
C:\Program\MicrosoftOffice\Office12\winword.exe
but if I double clic this file I came back to the window Apri Con and
windword he is always absent

Here 3 screenshots for the window "Apri con"

What can I do?

Those are .jpg files. They are not .docx (Word) files. They are pictures.
They open by default with Windows Photo Gallery.

I looked at your pictures. Sorry. I thought you were trying to open. .jpg
files with Word. If you associate the .docx extension with winword.exe, they
should open properly. It sounds like you might have an installation problem
with Office because the default program to open the files should be Word,
not Notepad or Irfanview. You might want to uninstall Office and re-install
it.

In these key I have two lines:

ab(Predefinito) REG_SZ "C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\Office12\WINWORD.EXE" /n /dde

ab command REG_MULTI_SZ
w_1^\VW!!!!!!!!MKKSkWORDFiles>tW{~$4Q]c@5d1',xaT05/n/dde
