Error finding updates in Windows Update (no error code)

I keeo getting this error: Some of the files needed for Windows Update are no
longer registered nor installed in the computer." The two options appear, i
choose the recommended, but when I click on the button to find updates, the
same error again, please I need help, thanks..!!!

Download and save the latest version of the Windows Update Agent from
the links in the article for the version of XP or Vista installed.

IF the OS is XP, then download KB927891 from the link in the article and
save that, too.
Close the browser and any other open programs

Install WindowsUpdateAgent30-xXX.exe first [IF a message appears that
states that the Update Agent or Controls are already installed, then
refer to the post from May 4th]

Then install KB927891
Restart the system

Did that resolve the issue, Brennero ?

thanks, but I've tried tha above but nothing seemed to work.
Looking in the community I found something that really helped me, it was
something you have to do in safe mode, can't remember the rest.
Thanks for your help anyway...
