I dl'd a few windows updates for ME recently, and now almost all my programs
cause an error in GDI.EXE, as wella s Kernel32.dll. I can launch programs
once, but once I close them and try again, they almost always give me the gdi
error. The 4 updates I installed are:GDI+Detection (KB873374), ME Security
Update (KB891781) ME Security Update (KB888113), & Cumulateive Security
Update for IE 6 Service Pack 1 (KB867282). Please help!

Hey Jack -
I opened up the fault log and the error says:

EXPLORER executed an invalid instruction in
module GDI.EXE at 0026:000012b3.

as well as:
RSTRUI caused an invalid page fault in
module KERNEL32.DLL at 0197:bff6285d.

and:
EXEC caused a general protection fault
in module <unknown> at c175:043af1e9.

as well as other, similar errors, just caused by different programs,
i.e.-WinMGMT, IS-L0LH5, X1Exec(which I know is Netzero) etc.

I tried looking these erros up using the link you posted, but w/ no luck.
Sorry if I'm missing something obvious!

You have a virus/spyware hijack

download the Stinger from here and run it to make sure that A-V-disabling
viruses are not present on your PC
http://download.nai.com/products/mca...rt/stinger.exe

- update your virus scanner and run a full system scan of all files.

Reboot to Safe Mode and run CWShredder - to remove variants of the
CoolWebSearch hijacker.
http://www.merijn.org/cwschronicles.html

Use CWShredder, the removal tool:
http://www.intermute.com/products/cwshredder.html
(download it without the accompanying rubbish)

download AdAware SE Personal Edition from www.lavasoftusa.com, install,
update, and run it to remove spyware, adware, and other such nasties from
your system.

Hey -
Thanks for the tip, I had ran antivirus and adaware etc. but came up empty
handed. I tried again after I saw your post, and the new antivirus prog. I
used (ClamWin) found a trojan that Norton didn't, called
Trojan.Downloader.Esepor-1 that solved the problem of the gdi.exe and
kern32.dll, but now I get blue screen error that says:
Error: 06: 0000: 0000 61C2. Fix 1 problem..find another I guess.
