When installing KB824141 on Windows server 2003 SP1 I get the folliwng error
message:

Service Pack started with following command line: -q /z
***
CheckSystem: ServicePack version Mismatch
***
DoInstallation: CheckSystem Failed: 0xf06b
***
Setup has detected that the Service Pack version of the system installed
is newer than the update you are applying to it.
You can only install this update on a computer with no Service Packs
installed.

I would assume, that the detection routine for this patch is not correctly
adapted. I get the same package (from 2003) offered on all my Windows 2003
machines since I have installed the Service pack.

Best greetings from Germany

That's because KB824141 is included in 2003 SP1. This update originates
in MS Security Bulletin MS03- 045 which is part of SP1. See
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec...r2003/sp1.mspx
for the complete list of security bulletins in SP1.

Therefore you already have that patch installed, and that is why you get
this error.

but anyway this should not be offered via Windows Update in this case.

So, why after installing SP1, did my SUS server try to download this specific
update to all (30) Windows server 2003 machines?

I said, it should not, but not that it doesn't.
I only confirmed, that there seems to be a bug with this specific patch.

Don't know. You would need to check that on the SUS server.

I have the same problem with KB824141. How do I keep them from flagging that
they are ready to be installed? I have deselected them on my sms server and
restarted, but they still give me the "Updates are ready to be installed"
message.
