Error Installing Security Update for .NET

Hi all...
I hope someone might have some advice they would be kind enough to share, as
I am at the end of my rope with this one. I have my PC set to automatically
download updates. The other day....I got a message that updates were ready
to install.

The update that it is trying to install is "Security Update Microsoft.NET
Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 (KB886903). When I click to install the
update...I get the following message........:

"SL7.tmp Common Language Runtime Debugging Services" - Application has
generated an exception that could not be handled.
Process ID 0x934 (2532) Thread ID 0x344 (3652).

It asks if I want to click "cancel" to debug....which I did. Then I get the
following Error.

"Registered JIT Debugger is not available"
cordbg.exe !a 0x934

Can anybody out there give me some advice on what to do to resolve this
issue? And please....if you would be so kind.....try to word it as easy as
possible? I'm not too tech savvy with computers. Thanks!
