Hi,
I am trying to install 3 updates for XP SP3, and get error 0x8007F0EA. I
have looked all over the microsoft help site & can not find any info on this
error code that pertains to the updates I am trying to install.

Here are the updates:
KB946486 (Live! photo gallery update)
KB928365 (.net framework security update)
KB950759 (IE security update)

Thanks,
Alex

Start with the resolutions described here:

<http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144>

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144

Don't worry if the title and/or description don't match your situation, the same
steps fix a number of different problems. Post back if it doesn't work.

Harry.

Nevertheless you could have gotten some ideas from previous incidents
involving this code:

http://www.microsoft.com/communities...=en-us&m=1&p=1

(Live Search for
(0x8007F0EA OR 8007F0EA) site:microsoft.com
)

Note that other users having this code, reported externally as 0x8007F0EA,
somehow found a solution by renaming the above file (xpsp3res.dll).
No explanation was given why that was done or what it accomplished.
The only thing about it that I would say is that it would obviously change
the above log messages if nothing else.

So far results seem to have been mixed regarding this approach.
Personally I would prefer to see better diagnostics so I could have have
a better idea of whether it would work on all the various updates that
it has been tried with. In particular, since we have never seen a log
from an incident made *after* the proposed resolution we don't even
have a good idea of what it accomplishes even when it does work.

I wonder if xpsp3res.dll is involved with your symptom too? <eg>
