I am trying to install Windows server 2008 on a new server. Everytime I try
to complete a setup I get an error "Windows could not parse or process
unattend answer file [C:\Windows\Panther\unattend.xml] for pass [Specialize].
A component or non-list setting is specified more than once in the answer
file."

Once i say OK to that error the server reboots and then I get " The
computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows
installation cannot proceed. To install Windows click OK to restart the
computer and then restart the installation."

The Windows Server 2008 DVD was created from and ISO image. I have not
created any unattend answer files. This is a straight installation from a
DVD.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Thanks.

Disregard last post. I found the problem. It was a redundant setting in the
HP SmartStart configuration that caused this.

IT was version 8.15 in SMARTSTART. I found that if your public and private
settings in the SNMP are the same it will fail. Also failed if the ORG name
is the same as either of the SNMP settings.
