Error Intalling BITS / WinHTTP

When I access the Windows Update site, it states that I need to update BITS
and WinHTTP. I click continue, then it states:

Downloading Update for Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) 2.0
and WinHTTP 5.1 (KB842773) (update 1 of 1)... failed!

My Windows Update.log file shows:

CheckIfDirExists returned error 0x80070002.
BITS service was not fixed up and thus CCI was not reattempted. (hr =
80040154)
Failed to connect to the BITS service; unable to start new downloads or
interact with existing download jobs. (hr = 80040154)
DM: GetBitsManager failed with 0x80246008.
DM: GetDownloadDataAndHandler failed with 0x80246008.
Error 80246008 occurred while downloading update; notifying dependent calls.

Please confirm: 842773 is already installed or your attempt to install it
via

failed.

Please try installing the MSXML Parser from the link given below and then
check whether you are able to get thru.

I tried this and it worked! Tried most things to fix this problem and the
MSXML Parser was the missing link!
