error message 0004.00001fzd

After I installed the recommended critical Window updates and attempted to
play the radio I received the error message "Explorer caused a general
protection fault in module USER.EXE at 0004.00001fcd." Further I was kicked
of the internet and it seemed as if it had tried to sign on two times,
because it said "thank you for using compuserve, thank you for using
compuserve." What may be the problem. Everything worked fine until I was
prompted to download this update. Is there a major flaw with the Window
updates? I see a long list od similar problems.
