Error Message 80070005 installing WMP

I have been stumbling along, trying to get through this.
On http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#setup11 I've seen that this is a matter of
permissions which I have been working on. But the end of the updspapi.log
still gives me a long list of access denied.
Here is the end of the file from the first access denied.
On a previous attempt to install the install went 100% but then aborted.
This time it only went 75%.

Delete the registry key:
HKCR\WPLFile\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers

Does that fix you up?

If you cannot delete that, then your registry is corrupt.

* Look for "Error 5" in the updspapi.log

What are the latest cases of that in that file?

It sounds like your system is corrupt in some fashion.

You absolutely must delete the registry key
HKEY_CLASSES_EROOT\WPLFile\shellex before continuing. That's what's broken.
If you can't do that even after fixing permissions, something may be wrong
with your registry.

I finally "see".
I went back over the updspapi.log and saw that the system kept trying to
delete that key and failed.
I still had to delete one other one.
I remembered that you had said to delete the files before attempting to
reinstall. When the install still failed after deleting the above key, I
deleted the wmp11.log and the updspapi.log, restarted the computer and
reinstalled.
The install still failed, but the updspapi.log was real short. I deleted
the troublesome key and then the install was successful.
