Hi,

I've been having trouble with Windows Live Messenger and since I can't find
another avenue of reporting my problems, I'll just write them here and hope
that someone responds to me.

I've been having ongoing probems with Live Messenger in the past in that
I've been logged in and my connection has been fine, however in the middle of
a conversation I will be unable to send a message - sometimes for as long as
20 minutes at a time (and my status remains online, I am not disconnected or
logged off) - I can receive messages from the person I am chatting to but
cannot send them any replies.

Today, I've been unable to log into Live Messenger for the past 5 and 1/2
hours. The two error messages that I've been getting are for error numbers
'81000314' and '80072745', however my connection to the internet is
absolutely fine, and when I try and log in with web clients such as
webmessenger and e-messenger, I have absolutely no problem signing in or
chatting. I tried uninstalling Live Messenger and installing MSN Messenger
v7.5 but cannot log in with that client either, nor can I log in with Windows
Messenger. When I've logged in using a web client, everyone who I've talked
to on my contact list has advised me that they are not having any problems
with their messenger clients.

I've tried logging in with two different email addresses throughout all the
events above, and neither is working so I am utterly perplexed as to what is
happening. I would very much appreciate if someone could respond to my
problem and advise if there is anything else that I can try to solve this
problem. I'd appreciate it even more if someone could just fix whatever the
problem is.

Also, I must advise that the problem with Messenger was sudden - one minute
I was online and chatting, the next minute the service had logged me off and
I was unable to reconnect. I have not change any of my internet or security
settings, and my firewall is not blocking the program.

I have had exactly the same problems since this morning...past 7
hours...only "81000314" here though.

Service status says that all is fine. The rest of the people in my building
have no problems...etc

So, the same problems as it seems...

*miss my linux*

I'm having the signin problem, but getting an 8100030d message, and then when
I click Retry, I get the 81000314 message. Started overnight here, but been
down for at least 4 hrs at this point. I've been using Live since fairly
early in the Beta program, and use Norton's firewall rather than Zone Alarm.

Unfortunately, no solution here from me either... but thought I'd add my two
cents and say that I'm getting the same problem, not only to make sure people
know it's not just them having difficulties but also to possibly spur along
the 'powers that be' to get it sorted! :-)

Dear all if you have not heard simply add these addresses to the following
file that should be opened with notepad and MSN will work.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts - (When you open the ETC folder open
the HOSTS file using notepad).

insert the following addresses:

65.54.239.80 messenger.hotmail.com
65.54.239.80 dp.msnmessenger.skadns.net

(INSERT THEM DIRECTLY UNDER THE OTHER 2 ADDRESSES AND ALIGN THEM WITH TAB.)

Easy done ... good luck.
