Error message and update problems

Occasionally while runing vista home premium i get an error that states
"Reliabilty analysis metrics calculation executable stopped working and was
closed." What is causing this problem and how may i resolve the issue.

Also when running windows update i receive a blank page with a statement in
the middle that states "The page failed to load." I cannot reach any options
under the update page (the preferences that should be on the left of the
update window are not there) and the only intereactive part of the window is
the address bar/search bar (>control panel>windows update). If the page is
unable to load and the website for vista updates runs the windows update app
how am i ever going to get around this problem?

In addition to this i am experiencing problems with Adobe Reader 8.1. When
i attempt to open a pdf it tells me that there was a problem and microsoft
will be notified. After closing this message my system is hung up for about
45 seconds until i receive another message reiterating the error.

Anyone have advice to resolve these issues?
