Error message when installation of Windows Messenger 5.1 is attemped

When I attempted to install Windows Messenger 5.1 on WXP Pro SP2, I got
an error message as follows:

Installer Information
An error occurred during the installation of assembly component
{C5125B5C-42CD-4C8C-B9E0-B738E6E814A6}
Result: 0x80070002.

What could be a remedy?
