Juan,
To see which Service Pack level Vista is now on *right* click Computer
either on the Desktop or Start Menu and choose Properties. The
information is under 'Windows edition'
As to the 80000FFF error, suggest you download, *save*, and then run the
System Update Readiness Tool (CheckSUR) as it *may* be able to resolve
system inconsistencies :
Description of the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista, for
Windows Server 2008, for Windows 7, and for Windows Server 2008 R2
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821
And, the full standlone package Vista Service Pack 1 can be downloaded
from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...9-cb3d06d12674
BUT, suggest you first run the System Update Readiness Tool. If the
system's inconsistencies can not be resolved, then please post one of
the logs it will create:

Things to know before you download Windows Vista SP1

Missing from the above advice is:
1) Scan the system for the presence of malware
2) Run chkdsk (chkdsk.exe) to ensure there are no issues with the Hard Drive
3) Run the Disk Defragmenter (dfrgui.exe) to ensure that the HD is not
overly fragmented
4) Completely and totally DISABLE the installed antivirus/security suite
prior to applying SP1. Either consult the User Guide or Help files of
the installed software, visit the manufacturer's web site to see how
this is accomplished, or Clean boot Vista to rule out *all* 3rd party
software interference:

Vista or in Windows 7
