I was gone for a week, and when i came back, all of the sudden I cannot sign
into live messenger anymore. I do not want to use web messenger, I want to be
able to use MY messenger. I keep reading posts from other people, and they
are being told to change passwords, or reinstall, or install another version,
or use webmessenger, but they all say that none of those are working. Then on
some of the posts A microsoft person is saying to go Change your childs
account settings or some other such nonsense, and they are telling him they
dont have kids, only they use the Computer, and apparently the microsoft
people are not listening. I do not have kids, I am the sole user of my
computer. Its not a virus program, My computer was turned off for the whole
week I was gone, and plus I have numerous antivirus programs. Could someone
please tell me what has happened that all of the sudden changed my ability to
use msn Messenger? I would like to be able to use it again, thanks.

Windows Live Messenger 8.1 may be experiencing the
issue. As a work-around, you can talk to your family and friends by signing
in to http://webmessenger.msn.com/. Or you can remove the latest version you
have and install Windows Live Messenger 8.0. Here are the steps that you
should follow:

1. Remove Windows Live Messenger 8.1 from the computer.
a. In the notification area, right-click the Messenger icon, and then click
Sign Out.
b. Click Start, click Run, type control appwiz.cpl, and then click OK.
c. In the list of currently installed programs, select MSN Messenger or
select Windows Live Messenger, and then click Remove.
d. If you are prompted to confirm, click Yes.

2. Install Windows Live Messenger 8.0.
a. Visit the following Web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en
b. Click Download.
c. In the File Download window, click Open or click Run.
d. Follow the steps to install Windows Live Messenger.
