Error Message "Spell check on this document was halted..." bug

This happens without me halting the spell check. My research shows that
it's a known bug in WLM but I can't find a working solution. Lots of work
arounds out there but none of them work. I can temporarily fix the error
message by reselecting my language but the problem comes back. I've tried
all the combinations of spelling options (suggested on the web). Hoping
someone here might have the answer. I'm using WLM v2009 (what came on my
new laptop).
Thanks,
Monica

Monica,

I have had a look in Google and it appears that the answer from the experts
is that you uncheck 'Always check spelling before sending' and check 'Check
spelling as I type'. Do not have both selected. That is how mine is
configured and it works well, but apparently it will not suit those who type
fast and who do not wish to be interrupted.

Yes, that is one of the work arounds. I found a whole host of solutions but
none of them seem to work or work for long (problem comes back). It seems
if you can only choose one option, then both options shouldn't be available.
IOW, if you choose one, the other should be grayed out. OTOH, having both
checked might be redundant. I do type fast and would rather wait till I'm
finished to spell check. Thanks for your reply

Since you found the work arounds on the web(different options for spell
checking)...no more are available.
WLM09's last update(forever) was in May 2009. No further releases planned.
Support for '09 on XP is for the foreseeable future.

Support for '09 on Vista/Win7 may not be the same.

The foreseeable future does not mean in perpetuity and may not mean until
the end of XP's extended support cycle.

Have a plan for the future to move away from 2009 to 2011 or another email
client.

Winston, my WLM 2009 is on my Win 7 machine. What benefits are there to
upgrading to WLM 2011?
Thanks,
Monica

WLM 2011: So if I don't need to know where everyone is all the time. If I
don't do social networking. If I don't want to put all my personal events
on line (Calendar) and don't go on line with my cell phone. If I already
have a photo sharing site I like and just don't plan on doing the whole
"cloud" thing, are there any benefits to upgrading to 2011 from WLM 2009?
Improved email and newsgroup features??

I don't believe 2011 offers you significantly improved email capability,
while your Usenet experience will be dreadfully degraded moving from
2009 > 2011.

That said, if you plan to use other elements of "Microsoft Essentials
2011", I believe you will be forcibly upgraded to WLM 2011 (others can
confirm).

Finally... we all know that MS programming has historically been fertile
ground for malware, and there no evidence that changed with the release
of WLM 2009. Since 2011 has superseded 2009 (at least for Vista/Win 7),
2009 could leave you vulnerable to future attack vectors.

And you have data on valid attack vectors that target any version of WLM
and not other email clients ?
