Error messages followed by broken Access databases

All of a sudden, we have started getting all sorts of error messages when
adding data to our access databases. After a small amount of data is added,
the whole database breaks and cannot be repaired. This is an absolute
problem with databases still running on Access 97, but we have noted problems
with current versions of Access as well.

I've installed a lot of Windows Updates lately........is there a problem
with one or more of the updates that might be causing this? Anybody else
having any new problems with Access databases that have worked just fine for
years?
