Added information to this problem:
The failed updates KB890830 (Virus suppression 2005) and KB890175 (Security
Update), also seem to have crippled my Antivirus/firewall software PC-cillen
11. This program now reports that it cannot find an internet connection to
get updates.
This leaves me in a Catch 22 state because another post regarding KB890175
(Security Update) failure points to knowledge base article which suggests
updating antivirus/firewall software to get around the update failure.
