”The error 0x800700B6 would occur due to corrupted active X control. The suggested
workaround is to Download and reinstall the version 5 of the Windows Update Active X
Controls at the following link:
1.
http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.co...en/wusetup.cab
2. Save the file to the desktop and extract the files to a temp folder.
The files are :
WUSETUP.CAT
WUSETUP.INF
3. Right click on the WUSETUP.INF file and choose "Install".
4. Reboot the computer and retry Windows Update. If the same error
persists, delete the following files manually and re-install the Control
using the above steps:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\cdm.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\iuengine.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuapi.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuauclt.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuauclt1.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuaucpl.cpl
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuaueng.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuaueng1.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wucltui.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wups.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuweb.dll
