Hello

I'm wondering if someone can help me out here.

I'm having a slight bit of trouble getting the Windows Updates To Work.

Prior To This happening there was a certain update asking me to install
which wouldn't installed "Failed Update"

I tried the Windows Update Repair Tool That didn't cure it.

I did an Online Scan With NOD32 Came Up Fine as well as scanning with my
Anti Malware programs.

Microsoft Support Pages it's something to do with Nod32 which I don't have
Installed.

I had a look at Dial A Fix But that seems to have messed this up

I can get to the Windows Update To Run And "Scan" for updates then I'm
greated with:

"Files required to use Windows Update are no longer registered or installed
on your computer. To continue:"

Register or reinstall the files for me now (Recommended)
Let me read about more steps that might be required to solve the problem

I do the recomend option (First One)

Then I get this:

The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are
trying to view. The options provided below might help you solve the problem

The Error Code Is Error number: 0x8007041D

I'm unable to start the Automatic Update Service

"Could Not Start the Automatic Updates Service On Local Computer

Error 126 The Specifed Moduel Could Not Be Found.

Any Ideas Please?

Thanks.

Please state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Vista x64 SP2) when
posting to this newsgroup.

What anti-virus application *is* installed and is your subscription current?

Is this a sudden, new problem or an ongoing one?

When did you install Avast, before or after this problem started?

By any chance did you recently do a Repair Install (of WinXP)? If so, what
problems were you having that you thought the Repair Install might fix?

PS:

>>> Microsoft Support Pages it's something to do with Nod32 which I don't
>>> have
>>> Installed.

Before running NOD32 Online Scan, you had to install "ESET Online Scanner".
If Avast had not been installed when you ran the online scan, "Microsoft
Support Pages" (whatever that is/means) was detecting the presence of "ESET
Online Scanner" (and chances are that Avast did NOT install correctly when
you installed it later and it is NOT working correctly now).

If Avast had been installed when you ran the online scan, you should have
uninstalled "ESET Online Scanner" via Add/Remove Programs (which you may do
now, assuming you don't want/need to do another scan).
