To Whom It May Concern:
I just finished getting an automatic Update from MS (Windows XP O.S.) and I
went to the Microsoft web site to see if there were anymore updates and I
keep receiving the [Error number: 0x80072EFE], and the system times out
without seeing if there are any updates.
Can someone please help fix this issue and tell me why i am getting it.
There are only Error message info. from 2005 and 2006 relating to this
problem on your knowledge base and Microsoft Discussion Groups.

Dan,

Was the system rebooted after the updates were auotmically installed ?

0x80072EFE ERROR_INTERNET_CONNECTION_ABORTED
may well indicate that the system needs a reboot prior to checking for
more updates. IF the system was already rebooted, see:

You may encounter temporary connection-related errors when you use
Windows Update or Microsoft Update to install updates
