Error number: 0x80072F78 (AGAIN!)

I've spent all morning trying to avoid the above error, and read &
implemented every fix/KB, etc, I can find. The only solution that appears to
work for me is to delete the 2 folders: websetup & wuredir from the
WINNT\SoftwareDistribution folder each time I run Windows Update. I have 2
questions:

1) I have 18 PC's on my LAN, mostly running W2000Pro SP4, with SBS2000. Why
do I get this error on some PC's & not others when the setup is apparently
identical on all of them?

2) will there ever be a final & convincing fix for this error?
