[Error number: 0x80072F78] with ISA2K running Windows XP

Another person mentioned something interesting and it worked, although
temporarily. Windows Update works great outside of ISA, no proxy, with ISA,
it is a serious flaw by MS.

Close IE first.

Delete two directories from the C:\WINDOWS\SOFTWAREDISTRIBUTION folder

1. WebSetup
2. WuRedir

Try Windows Update and it will work, should work.

You have to delete those two folders again before running Windows Update
again. A workaround but not a permanent solution.

This also work for the same error in winwdows w2k, with proxy server.

Worked for me too. But does anyone have a solution and not a workaround? Is
there a configuration or setting on the ISA end? Patches/Fixes?
