[Error number: 0x800A01AE] can not update

I get this great error number without a message to any clue on what's wrong.
I love Microsoft.

Re-register the Windows Update DLL with the commands below:

Click Start, click Run, type CMD, and then click OK.

Type the following commands. Press ENTER after each command.

regsvr32 wuapi.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng1.dll
regsvr32 wucltui.dll
regsvr32 wups.dll
regsvr32 wups2.dll
regsvr32 wuweb.dll

Register qmgr.dll

Click Start.
Choose Run.
In the Run box, type regsvr32 qmgr.dll.
Click OK.

Register qmgrprxy.dll

Click Start.
Choose Run.
In the Run box, type regsvr32 qmgrprxy.dll.
Click OK.

Afterward, visit the Windows Update web site.

What happens if you do not have the last two dll's
qmgrprxy.dll
qmgr.dll.

Is there a site where you can get them?

Carey, I tried your suggestions below, but I still get messages to this
affect: "Userdata persistence must be Enabled". Mine was already set, but I
changed it back and forth several times and nothing changed. Also, my
"update" tray icon appears, but when I go to click on it, it disappears. Is
this a sympton of this new worm just released???
