Error number: 0x8024001E after new installations of win2k pro and

Error number: 0x8024001E

i have tried deleting softwaredistributions folder and registering dlls
suggested for
for other windows update errors.
wuaueng1.dll
wucltui.dll
wuaueng.dll
wuapi.dll
iuengine.dll
cdm.dll
jscript.dll
MSXML.DLL
MSXML2.DLL
MSXML3.DLL

i get error in registering 3 dll files saying

iuengine.dll was loaded the dllregister server entry point was not found.

same message for cdm.dll also
what is missing in installations.

i get same error in both installations of xp sp2 and win2k pro

it is really behaving wiered. previously i got different errors. thats why
reinstallation i tried.
this laptop tecra9000 has gentoo and pclinuxos also boot from grub bootloader.

is that a problem for windows update??
