This system was running Windows 2000 and was upgraded to 2003. The Windows
Update log doesn't show anything more than an echo of this code...

Windows 2000 cannot be "upgraded" to Windows Server 2003.
You'll have to start over from scratch and perform a "clean install"
of Windows Server 2003 to correct your issues.

Clean Install Windows XP

Get Windows XP Service Pack 2 with Advanced Security Technologies:
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu...xp/choose.mspx

Hi Carey, et al:

do you haev a KB reference or something for that assertion? This server
has been running faultlessly post-upgrade for a couple of years, through the
usual changes in roles, addition/removal of service functions, etc. I'm
rather loathe to reformat the hard drive at this point...

thanks

Jeff

Hi Carey:

I think you misread the initial question--this system was Windows 2000, is
now Windows 2003 SE. Windows 2003 SP1 was released over the weekend,
more-or-less. THAT's the SP1 which is now causing Windows Update to throw
the above error, but only on this one system...

I'm getting the same error. Has this been resolved? Mine was a fresh install
of 2003

I am also getting this error, and I am running on a clean install of Win2K3.
Has anyone found a solution to this problem? (Most of the posts I've read
apply to XP, not 2003 Server.)
