Error Number: 0x80244016 - I BADLY NEED HELP!

Mine is a HP Compaq D530 model running on Windows XP Professional (SP1). I
have tried numerous times for a week to fix the error mentioned above but
failed. The message that pops up is "Windows Update has encountered an error
and cannot display the requested page..."

I would be very grateful for your help, please.

Here are some things to try:

1. Delete temporary internet files and enable scripting of active x
control files and than test.


2. Download KB842773 (BITS 2.0)

Update package that includes Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS)
version 2.0 and WinHTTP 5.1 is available for Windows XP

I have followed your recommendation as per step #2 and glad to tell you that
all critical updates and drivers pertaining to SP2 have been successfully
downloaded.
