I am running a Dell desktop with vista 64 bit software. I have occassions
when in the middle of a task, the entire work will vanish from the screen.
During the middle of a chess game for example, the screen goes blank and I
get a message "chess master has stopped working" and the game is lost. A
note asks me if I want more details and I say yes-it refers me to an hdmp
file which implies that I have errors in the registery. When I try to run a
registry cleaner, I'm told that the program only works for 32 bit programs.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the progrm with no
improvement-can anyone suggest my next step.

Hi,

The error messages likely refer to registers, not the registery. Registers
are used to hold data in the processor, and the error message simply tells
you what the contents were at the time of the fault - not really useful to
the average user. Running a registry cleaner would probably be the worst
thing you could do.

The exact text of the error message, especially BCCodes and modules, might
help point out what is actually going wrong.

How and where do I find BCCodes? I get no error mesage except "the program
has stopped working" Then an option "do you want more details" and if I say
yes it sends me to the hdmp file.

Hi,

Open the Event Viewer and check the system logs.
