Thanks for your post and Dave's input.
As Dave pointed, the 0x8004231f error is caused by low disk space for volume shadow copy service to perform the System State backup. In addition to moving data folders
to other disks/partitions, you may also consider:
Suggestions:

Right click on the System drive(I assume it is C drive) and select properties, on the Shadow Copies tab:
=-> Delete one oldest snapshot
=-> Check if shadow copy still fails with same error
=-> Delete once more snapshot and try again.
=-> If the issue persists, try to changed the 'settings' of C: drive from "No limit" to "Use limit" value. You can click the Details button and use the Maximum size as the "Use
limit" value.
