Error trying to run Windows Updates

Hello,

I'm running Windows 2000 w/ Office 2002 and am getting the following error
trying to run windows updates:

The site cannot continue because one or more of the following Windows
services is
not running:

Automatic Updates
Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS)
Event Log
Remote Procedure Call Locator

I went to the services area and started all the above services (choosing the
recommended startup type of Automatic or Manual), but still received the
error trying to run the updates.

I then re-registered the following .dll's:
regsvr32.exe wuaueng.dll
regsvr32.exe qmgr.dll
regsvr32.exe qmgrprxy.dll
There was no Delete Flag value under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\wuauserv

with the same resulting error.

Not sure what to try next.
