Error using "Turn Windows Features on or off"

I am trying to turn on IIS, and I get an error:

"An error has occurred. Not all of the features were successfully changed"

I got to the event log, and I get a load of errors, which seems unrelated to
turning on IIS. Some of the errors are:

ErrorCode 0x8007007b
Windows Servicing failed to complete the process of setting package
HelpCustomization_en-US (Language Pack) into Installed(Installed) state

ErrorCode 0x8007007b
Windows Servicing failed to complete the process of setting package
KB938979_1 (Update) into Installed(Installed) state

ErrorCode 0x8007007b
Windows Servicing failed to complete the process of setting package KB938979
(Update) into Installed(Installed) state

Windows Servicing failed to complete the process of setting package Windows
Foundation (Foundation) into Installed(Installed) state

There are probably about 100 to 150 of these type of errors in the log.

Anyone have an idea of what could be wrong?

I am experiencing the same problem. I had IIS running, but was having
some problems and thought a 'clean install' might be the way to go. I
uninstalled IIS, that seemed to go ok. But when I tried to install
IIS, I get the same pattern described below.

I am having this same error message in attempting to turn on IIS. Can someone
please offer a solution to this problem?

I am also having this problem trying to install IIS management tools. Have
you guys tweaked your services settings to disable certain ones or maybe
turned off UAC?
