Error while checking out-of-date appointments

Using ActiveSync 3.8. New computer came with Office 2003 trial version,
which I used for several weeks, but decided to uninstall and revert to
Office XP 2002. Now when synching I get the following error for Calendar,
Tasks and Contacts:

There was no response from your mobile device while checking for out-of-date
contacts. Disconnect your mobile device and try again, etc.

The synch stops upon the error message. Have disconnected and soft reset
the mobile device several times, but the problem and error message persist.
Have also deleted the Paternership and re-established a new Partnership.
The initial combine goes OK and all info in Outlook and the PDA look fine.
But as soon as I change any of the Calendar, Tasks or Contacts, the error
recurs when I synch. I have reinstalled ActiveSync 3.8, but this has not
fixed the problem.

Is it possible that some of the Task, Calendar, Contact data on my PDA is in
Outlook 2003 format because I was using Outlook 2003 for a while before
reverting to 2002, and that there is some incompatibility in synching since
I am now using 2002. Not a happy camper if the trial version has caused
this problem.

Any suggestions?

Hello --
you mention that you deleted the partnership and started all over again.-
this means that all the items should have been deleted from the device -
True?
When you change one of the items and get the "Disconnect and re-connect"
error, can you grab the %temp%\WcesLog.log file please.

Juggs,

Actually, when establishing the new partnership, it gives you the option to
combine, or force the desktop data onto the PDA. Since lots of the
information existing on the PDA was also in the Outlook file at the time of
the initial synch, I used the combine option. Otherwise, I thought I might
wind up with lots of duplicates. Does the option to put the desktop data
onto the PDA actually delete all the PDA data first? If so, this would
eliminate my duplication concerns.

I have found wcesmgr.log, but no Wceslog.log, and below is a copy of it once
the synchronization initiates. Is this the file you wanted? A reference to
the error is found at the 6th to last line. The next 4 lines suggest there
may be some unknowns in the PDA data. Look forward to your suggestions.

Juggs,

Before when I established the new partnership with my home desktop, I used
the combine option because I sync the PDA with both the home computer and
with my work computer. However, based upon your question, I went ahead and
deleted the existing partnership with the home computer, established a new
partnership, and then chose the replace from desktop option instead of
combine. And again the intial sync seemed fine as Calendar, Tasks, Inbox
and Contacts all showed in ActiveSync as synchronized. However, the first
sync therafter, the same error message as in the past occurred. I made no
changes on the PDA or computers between the initial sync and this sync. I
present the Wesmgr.log file for this session below:

FYI, I also have run Scanpst.exe on my Outlook file just in case the problem
is within it. However, it detected no errors.
