I am getting an error message when trying to install a new version of Office
Pro 2007 on a laptop that came pre-installed with Windows Vista. It says
that there is a corrupted file. Please reinstall using original disk or
downloaded file. I tried to install using this same disk on a desktop with
Windows XP and didn't get the error. There is currently Office 2003
installed on both the laptop and desktop but we didn't want to uninstall all
the existing programs, just want to add Publisher to the laptop.

Why am I getting this and is there a work around?

Thanks,
Shona

You likely have to uninstall all of Office and re-install. There have
been lots of reported problems with installing office on Vista without
a full removal of previous versions. There's an uninstall tool you can
use - do some searching here or wait and one of the regulars will
point you in the right direction.

Generally you use Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove corrupt
install.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/en-us However it is not recommended
to use it with Office 2007

Generally Windows InstallerCleanUp Utility is used to remove corrupt
installations of applications

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/en-us

However it is not recommended for removing Office 2007.

For removing corrupt Office 20007 installation refer to
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928218/

regards,

Malcolm.
