I had downloaded the SP2 and installed but it made my system crash. After I
had re-installed my XP home, I couldn't update my system from the Windows
update centre. A error code was shown like this:
"0x80244010"
Could anyone help me to solve this problem? Thank you.

You need to install a patch to allow windows update v.5 to work. It should
ask you to install it when you visit the site. If a pop up comes up which
says something from microsoft needs to install on your system, let it. Its an
Active X Control. It should then allow you to update.

Mart,
Thank you. But I remembered that such pop-up appeared and I did click the
"OK" for installation. As asked by Thomas, can we get such installation
manually?

I have tried most of the fixes posted in the newsgroups, with no success, but
found when I reset the SP2 firewall to its default settings it worked.
