Errors 0x800A01AD, 80004002, and 80040154

After successfully (I think) updating XP-Home Ed. with SP2 by using the
manually downloaded SP2 file, I am now running SP2 but cannot get AU or WU to
successfully communicate with the Windows Update website. When I click WU, I
am taken to the
http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.co...ult.aspx?ln=en site and
presented with the ywo options -- Express Install or Custom Install. It does
not matter which I click; each results in:

"[Error number: 0x800A01AD]
Windows Update has encountered an error and cannot display the requested
page."

It appears that the key error codes are 80004002 which I believe occurs just
after boot when WU loads; and 80040154 which happens whenever the Update
website is visited.
