Hi, wondering if anyone can help with this.

When i go the the windows update page, it remains blank but says in the
corner of IE 'Done, but with errors on the page'.

I am running W2K with IE6 and have never had a problem before.

This is the error report:

Line 72
Char 3
Error automation server can't create object
Code 0
URL http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com

Any ideas?

Windows Update Troubleshooter
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/troubleshoot/
When you are using the Windows Update Web site you receive a script error.

and/or

Re-register the Urlmon.dll file
Click Start, click Run, type regsvr32 urlmon.dll in the Open box, and then click OK.

and/or check your Internet Explorer Security Settings:-
1. Start Internet Explorer.
2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
3. Click the Security tab.
4. Click the Internet Web content zone icon.
5. Click Custom Level.
6. In the Reset to box, click Medium.
7. Click Reset.
8. Click OK.

Thanks for the response. I tried everything you said and it still won't
load. I also tried the troubleshooter page but I get the same problem with
that as I do the update page (loads with errors, gives blank screen).

The first three of those files were missing on my system. I've now
re-installed them and used regsvr32 as suggested and still can't get onto the
page. This is driving me nuts!

Reboot to Safe Mode and repair IE from Add/Remove Programs....

Reboot to Safe Mode
Go to Add/Remove Programs and try a repair of Internet Explorer from there.
Go to the entry for 'Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 SP1 and Internet Tools'
in Add/Remove Programs
Click on Remove - and click on Repair on the window that pops up
Reboot on request to Normal Mode

If the above entry isn't there, you first need to uninstall all the patches
applied, then do the repair, then reapply the patches
The patches are listed in Add/Remove under the names 'Internet Explorer
Qxxxxxx'
highlight, click Remove - reboot if requested.
Repeat until the MSIE6SP1 entry appears - then repair as above.

HTH
