On December 01, 2004, IE took me to the update page when I booted the
computer and dl'd and installed the Cumulative Security Update for Internet
Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (KB889293). The next day, the automatic update
dl'd and installed the same update. From the moment the update finished
installing the second time, I began receiving messages saying that stmgr,
sucatreg and crypt32 are causing errors in wintrust.dll. I extracted all
four files from c:\windows\system\cab and installed them, but continue to
receive the error messages. Also, when I use the System Utility and click on
file system on the performance tab, the System Utility program freezes and I
have to use ctrl, alt, delete to close it. Does anyone have any idea what
caused/causes this and know how to repair it?

Julie
I suggest that you read the response to your message posted in the ME
groups, where Mike Maltby has given you a pretty comprehensive rundown on
the situation.

Noel,
Thank you for your response and please accept my apologies for the duplicate
posts. When I attempted to post to the forum, I received the message that
the post was unsuccessful and to try again later. Obviously, each one was
successful and resulted in duplications.

No problems, Julie - seems to happen a lot on the CDO interface!
