eSATA not being recognized

I recently purchased a Vantec NexStar external eSATA hard driv
enclosure and have been having some issues trying to get it to wor
connected via eSATA. Everything works fine connected by USB 2.0 bu
when I switch over to eSATA the drive is never detected in Windows.

The drive itself connected with eSATA is detected in my bios and in th
JMicron boot screen but Windows fails to see it. I have AHCI enable
for my eSATA port (MSI 790FX-GD70 motherboard) and enabled the AHC
system drivers in my registry but still am unable to detect the drive.
I had it working for a little bit under IDE mode in the bios but th
drive was unreliable and would become unresponsive after a minute o
two.

Can anyone think of anything I may have missed in getting this working
Any input would be appreciated
