ESENT ID 411 - Version of protocol and version of database don't match

Hi all,
since some days on a Windows 2000 machine which used to get updates from a
WSUS server, the update stopped and I see an entry in the Windows
application log:

wuaueng.dll (3136 - or sometimes 2040) Die Version des Protokolls und die
Version der Datenbank passen nicht zusammen.

In english: The version of the protocol and the database version don' t
match.
Tried to reinstall the WSUS Client with the /wuforce option. Didn't help.

Any ideas?

(the microsoft.public.softwareupdatesvcs newsgroup is for SUS)
