Hi,
I thank everbody who adviced me on the Essential Mail installation (ref. the
general question on essential).

I performed the installation with succes and it is working fine.

Some questions:
-during startup Essential appears but on the header is still Windows Mail
(just for technical interest)

-is there a documentation describing the new layout : so i had to search for
a long time where the function was to start reading mails from the server
(via extra ...not that user friendly )

-the update of my maps are ok but my accounts were not integrated as well as
the newsgroups which i was using in WLM (do i have to install them manual or
via the export / import function).

Regards
Huib

I will say this one more time, for clarification. "Windows Live Essentials"
is a suite of related application and services. "Windows Live Mail" is just
one of those related applications. The mail part of "Windows Live
Essentials" is called, "Windows Live Mail", and has been so called since MS
changed the name of Hotmail from "Windows Live Mail" to "Windows Live
Hotmail" (and, correspondingly, changed the name of the desktop client from,
"Windows Live Mail desktop" to "Windows Live Mail").

AFAIK, only the Help files invoked by clicking on the (?) icon.

I rarely use WLM for news groups. I've not actually seen a pair of problems
with WLM in NNTP service: Failure to apply the quote symbol in quoted text
and some weird question mark issue when used in conjunction with the MS
Internet Explorer 9 beta (which I have not installed since my primary
browser is Opera).

As for "account integration", can you clarify? I've updated WLM, and don't
see any difference in how the email accounts operate.

I have no idea what you are talking about. I have never heard of "Essential
Mail". What I have installed is called, "Windows Live Mail". The "About" box
calls it as, "Windows Live Mail 2011 (Build 15.4.3502.0922)".

I do not know what the "maps" are. All of my accounts are in the accounts
column to the left; below the "Quick views", and above the "Outbox". I
assume that tabs contain the "ribbon bar" I've been hearing tell about. My
tabs are labeled, "Home", "Folders", "View", and "Accounts". Regardless of
which tab I have selected, my accounts are in a column on the left of the
window.

Hi, thanks again
Sorry by Maps i mean Folders : and all this is OKE including the accounts.

I mean the method to change the acoount when e.g. one has to adapt the
server information.
In WLM - classic it is also possible via the right mouse to see that
information of the server settings, i suppose in Essential it is the same.

Currently i did a restore and will re-install Essential Mail during the
weekend.

A last question if i may, what is the method to force reading the mails
after start-up (is this only via Extra ...)

Hi,
Thanks for the information: i was confused by seeing again WLM , but now it
is clear.

About the accounts they are all working properly but i had no means to make
changes on the accounts themselves.

In WLM via Extra/accounts i saw all my accounts which where on use
In Essential Mail the accounts are visible in the maps and could receive &
send mails from so far OKE but when clicking on the tab accounts it was
empty.

So my question is have i to import these accounts or have i to look
somewhere else to be able to any change when necessary.

Huib,
Your terminology appears to be somewhat confusing. I'm going to attempt to
explain what I think you are asking, forgive me if it's incorrect.

If your term 'Extra/Accounts' means the option on the Windows Mail
button(upper left blue)/Options/@ Email accounts.. (where Extra = @)
- then that is place to see your mail and newsgroup accounts and also to
add/remove/edit/import/export new or existing accounts
If your term 'tab Accounts' means the last tab on the Ribbon i.e. the
Accounts tab
- then that place provides three options.....Two for creating a new Email
or Newsgroup account and one called Properties for the accessing the
settings of current account selected in the left hand account pane(email or
news). It does not, nor is it intended to display your existing email or
news accounts.

Thus to 'change when necessary' us the location you called 'Extra Accounts'
or select the account in the left hand pane and use the 'Properties/option
on the Account tab.
