As far as I can remember, I installed no drivers thru Update. I usually go
directly to Nvidia for them. However, just today I went thru Update after
finally getting my ethernet card working as it should using the methods
described in my last message, and there was an Nvidia ethernet driver update
listed along with a number of security updates. I let it install this time,
and upon restart the driver works again. I'll have to see how that does
over the next few days!
