Hi everyone,
I have been trying to set up an Ethernet LAN with Vista Ultimate and XP
Home with little success..
I have set up the standard IP configurations.. 192.168.0.1 for XP
which is connected to the internet via wireless router.. Vista is setup
for 192.168.0.2 subnets are both 255.255.255.0, gateway on Vista set for
XP IP, etc....
The XP machine can 'see' the Vista machine but cannot access it,
reporting network path not found.. Vista cannot ping the XP box nor can
XP ping Vista times out normally.. Network discovery was tried on and
off.. Private and public along with a host of other settings variations
have been tried...
Vista reports it is connected to an unknown network and also at least
once reported before shutting down that at least one user is connected
etc...
XP shows the Vista box in the work group which is the same on both as
is the user accounts...
XP is fully updated SP3 and Vista is out of the box with no updates...
I would like full connectivity, file sharing and internet access
through the XP connection to work if possible..
Any help is appreciated..
