Event 1521 roaming profile

Upgrading a user to a new pc. The OS is changing from xpp to win 7 pro (SBS
2003 is server OS). Folder redirect is working for my documents. However
his roaming user profile (desktop) is not coming over. It goes to a default
local and doesn't save changes. The event is coming up as 1521. From what I
can tell DNS is working just fine. So it must be something with the user
profile. Anybody have ideas on what is behind this, and what must be done to
fix it?

Hello,

Thanks for your post.

Frist, I would like to explain the combination of Roaming User Profiles with Folder Redirection

When a user gets a roaming user profile, the data and settings that are stored in the user's local profile directories become mobile. The profile data is stored on a server and
copied to a workstation when the user logs on. Storing this data on servers simplifies data backup and security. However, because large folders, such as My Documents, are
copied, there can be logon delays. You can avoid these delays by using Folder Redirection in combination with Roaming User Profiles.

When a user profile folder is redirected to a shared folder on the network, the folder is no longer part of the user profile. While other profile data is copied to the local workstation
when the user logs on, the redirected folder remains on the server and is accessed over the network. Using folder redirection to redirect folders into the roaming profile is not
recommended as it can cause a profile corruption. Also, please check if roaming profile and Folder redirection policy were redirecting the folders to the same location. If so,
please disable and disconnect the Folder redirection policy.

BTW, please make sure you have the correct permissions on the roaming profile folder that resides on the server. Encrypting File System (EFS) is not compatible with files in
roaming user profiles. If you use EFS to encrypt profile folders or files, the user's profile does not roam.

You can refer to the following link and the sub-links to get more details about the roaming profiles:

Hope this helps.
