Event ID 12302

I have two 64 bit W2K3 AD DC's which I am trying to do a system state backup
of with ntbackup. This is failing with the event id 12302 Volume shadow Copy
Service error: an internal inconsistency was detected in trying to contact
shadow copy service writes. Please check to see that the Event Service and
Volume Shadow Copy Service are operating.
I have tried to implement the resolution in the following kb:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940032 but the dll msxml.dll is not present.
Can anyone suggest what I should do to resolve this issue. Where can I get a
copy of msxml.dll? Is there another process I can follow to resolve my
problem?

Meinolf touched on this already but I would apply the latesdt Service Pack
even if it has already been applied. Once this is complete go back and run
Windows Update. Problem with this is if anything breaks you don't have a
back up so you are in a big catch 22.

Thanks you for your replies. I will feed back your input to the guys who
built the DC's. THese machines were built from a VM template so I think there
may be a problem with the template.

Did they regenerate the sid's via sysprep. In this instance I wouldn't walk
the sid or do any other means but sysprep.
