This morning my ASUS laptop running Vista Home Premium will not open any
software program. I began by trying to open a Publisher file and got the
message that I couldn't because it was being used by another program (it
wasn't). Then Publisher would not respond and the process had to be closed
using Task Manager. Then no other MS Office programs would open - they began
to open then hung. Then no other software would open, except with the OS
running in safe mode. The event log records event ID 4609 errors. What is
this error and how is it fixed, and please don't refer me to the useless MS
non-support website. Will going back a restore point help?
