Whenever I'm trying to open the event viewer the following error appears:

----------------------
MMC could not create the snap-in. The snap-in might not have been installed
correctly

Name: Event Viewer

CLSID:FX:{b05566ad-fe9c-4363-be05-7a4cbb7cb510}
------------------------

I also tried to create a new MMC console and ad the Event Viewer snap-in
there but
another error poped up

---------------------
MMC cannot initialize the snap-in.
Name: Event viewer
CLSID: FX:.............. (as previous)
---------------------

Any ideas ?

Can I reinstall somehow the add-in ?

Yep, I have the same problem

........and "windows search" doesn't work properly....it
hangs.....windows sevices report this as not running though set to auto.
When I attempt a manual start, it returns error code 5 - access denied.

........and the "rename" command hangs.

This all happened after I installed Nero 7 Essentials.
Could there be a link here....or co-incidence?

Comments invited.

Thanks

H

I fixed some of the problems by disabling "windows search"

Go to Control panel>Classic view>Administrative tools>services

Set "windows search" to "disable". May need reboot

I think that's what/how I did.....let me know how it goes
