You can control that.

You mean Internet Explorer :-)

What is the error?

That doesn't really give us much to go on.

No, it doesn't remove Wordpad. If you go to start, run, and type wordpad
<enter>, or write <enter>, I'll bet it launches...

Nor would I attempt to do so. Very few people who hang around these NGs work
for MS, and even those who do would be unlikely to know whether you were a
valued customer or not. <g>
This is a public newsgroup and most people who reply in here are
volunteering their own time to help others - note that ranting may
significantly decrease the odds that you get the help you desire.

Uninstall SP2 if you like.

I truly do understand your frustration, but please not that most SP2
problems have to do with existing underlying problems in your installation
of Windows already. That, and problems with older device drivers. I've
installed SP2 on clean-ish Windows XP on new-ish hardware and had no
problems. I've had SP2 problems on older hardware, even with clean installs
of Windows.
Get the latest drivers from your hardware mfr - BIOS, NIC, video, audio,
etc...and save them on your hard drive. Install them. Run AdAware/Spybot,
etc., to clean your computer of spyware. Run disk cleanup to get rid of temp
files. Defrag your hard drive. Wave a chicken foot over your monitor, and
try again?
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/oemlinks.mspx may help if you have a
brand name computer.
Good luck!
