Alright. I just got my computer 4 days ago, it came with Vista installed and
despite the horror stories I was willing ot give it a chance. But the first
day all my music somehow became "inaccessable" and could no longer be played.
The second day NOTHING could be played, even off a CD in the drive. Now all
of a sudden my sound doesn't work at all. The tablet and pen for grpahic arts
that I installed has wonky sensitivity. AOL Instant Messenger won't start up.
Oh, and when I play a slightly grpahics heavy game (that I had NO problem
with on my much lesser old computer) the Monitor enjoys going blank for a few
seconds. It's all been very fun and now I'm ready to tear my hair out.
A) I don't know what to do. Someone save me. I'm not a computer person and i
can't deal with this.
B)Are these new pre-made computers filled with components ONLY compatible
with Vista? Because I would love to downgrade and have MS give XP to me
because Vista is a nightmare in digital form.

I'm not reflexively jumping to the defense of Microsoft, but it's possible
that the problem is with your computer.

If it's brand new and not working then you should call the computer maker,
as another poster has already suggested.

You have no way of knowing whether this is a Vista problem or a bum machine.
Either way, it's not working.
And four days into your ownership, I'd say that's a problem the computer
manufacturer has to fix.

you should have listened to my warnings about vista

If you came here you may have seen my warnings....

what do the vistaboys have to say now? this is a new vista state of the art
pc,
yet its full of problems....

there is only one explaination: Vista is low quality and stupid.

To the OP... if you want to try to stick with vista give us one problem at a
time
with details so we can try to tame the beasta (vista)

Tiberius: You have jumped to conclusions. Yes, this is a new machine, but
nothing the OP has said gives any evidence this is "state of the art." How
can you possibly know that based on what the OP said?

Maybe it is. We don't know. She didn't say.
Maybe it's something she bought from Wal-Mart. We don't know. She didn't
say.

To TheSarah (original poster): Please tell us more about your machine.
At the same time, though, I'd say that I don't care if it's a $6,000
quad-core. If it's not working four days after you bought it, you need to
talk to the people who sold it to you. Or else return it to them if they
refuse. A product you buy has to work, whether there's a written warranty or
not. If they can't make it work, tell them you want your money back. ALL of
it. No "restocking fees" etc.

I have heard too many people in here say that vista is full of problems and
they want to downgrade to Xp
to buy into "its the computers fault" scenario

I know for sure that vista is a flop... from experience.. bad quality, bad
design, bad concept, bad implementation...

everything about vista is bad.... and to think before I started testing the
betas I thought it would
be a revolution, a milestone, a masterpiece. Then I saw the betas, and said
you gotta be kidding...
then I hoped these betas had nothing to do with the final product.. yet it
didn't change much...

Im still waiting for the "real vista" that was promised to the world....
perhaps it will come out in 2010.

Well, I don't mean to put anyone down; and maybe it's because I use to train
and repair and consult. But, my expirience with vista is going quite well. I
think it is a step up from XP. I don't have the time to explain how to deal
with all the problems I've read about on this board, but, I do try to follow
every problem that you people are having, and I have not read about any
problems that can't be solved. All I can say is quiters never win, so, don't
give up.

It's not the machine, it is the OS. Like the saying "failure is not an
option, it comes bundled with the software". TheSarah guessed it right,
vista sux.

By the way, m$ doesn't have a warranty and they don't give money back.

Hi all

TheSarah. I had a simlar problem that i purchased a Acer Laptop for a
customer with. The laptop was incredibly slow wouldn't connect to the
internet and so on.
So i did a factory recovery with the backup disks that i created when
i first got the laptop and ever since then it has worked fine.

i would give that ago before sending it back it won't void your
warranty.

It might just be a bad install.

Oh and that was with XP home edition and not Vista.
Just want to point out i am using Vista at the mo on my main PC and
just Like XP it will take time.

The only thing i like about Vista is Aero ha ha ha time will tell.
